Dave Coulter for Oakland County Executive

The Leader We Need Now

Dave Coulter is leading the County into the future.

Under his leadership, Oakland County government today is more open, more welcoming and more forward-thinking. His fiscally responsible policies preserve Oakland County’s AAA bond rating and healthy Rainy-Day fund.

Increasing Education Levels

Coulter’s nationally-recognized program to increase post-secondary achievement is seeing promising results, with an 7% improvement in 3 years. That means more adults have the degrees and credentials to get better paying jobs and our businesses the workers they need.

Supporting Small Businesses

Coulter’s administration is making real and lasting investments in our small businesses. County leadership launched a new organization – Oakland Thrive – to focus exclusively on the needs of small businesses, just as Automation Alley focuses on manufacturing. And working with Automation Alley, the County is making a huge investment to transition our manufacturers to next generation technologies.

Supporting Kids and Families

Coulter has made supporting kids and families a top priority. Under his leadership, the County is investing nearly $40 million supporting the mental health of our students, addressing out of classroom learning loss, and helping to meet their health care needs. The county has created a Land Bank and a Housing Trust to focus on affordable housing.

Protecting the Environment

Under Dave’s leadership, the County is investing up with local communities by investing in water projects to keep our water safe and lead-free, transforming parks in communities long overlooked, and supporting a once in a generation project in northern Oakland County to address failing septic systems and generate economic opportunity.

Investing in downtown Pontiac

In a bold and historic partnership, the State, County and City are transforming downtown Pontiac by removing the Phoenix Center Parking Deck and rehabbing the former GM building to house over 500 county employees in the downtown.

Expanding Public Transit

After decades of County leadership just saying no, Coulter secured the support of voters last year to create a county-wide system. Public transit is expanding for the first time in 30 years. New SMART routes are running to jobs in Novi, and they are planning routes to stores and restaurants in downtown Rochester. Local transit operators are providing more transportation to seniors, veterans, and the disabled in all parts of the county.

In 4 years, County Executive Dave Coulter has also been tested. Leading the County through the COVID-19 pandemic, spending federal relief dollars to survive and now thrive after the pandemic, and in actively supporting the community after the tragic Oxford shooting.

Dave Coulter is keeping his promise to move Oakland County Forward and looks forward to earning the support of Oakland County residents for re-election in 2024.

"We have a historic opportunity to leverage the tremendous strengths within our county to create the next and best version of Oakland County."
